#OneMelburnian vs The Pissants

The fan initiated #OneMelburnian campaign is going well so far with 80+ new members already signing up to Melbourne Heart. Congratulations to everyone involved and let’s keep the momentum going for the rest of the year till we reach our goal of 9,000 and beyond! Mention the campaign and the three game memberships to anyone and everyone you know. For more information “One Melburnian” is now on Twitter and facebook.

Last Week

We had control of the match for the first half but like far too many occasions this season we faded in the latter stages of the game. On The World Game, Aloisi claimed it wasn’t anything to do with lack of fitness so to me it’s looking like a lack of confidence and mental toughness. We simply demand more Heart. We had never lost to Sydney until last weekend and the nature of their come-from-behind win really hurt.

The Reds have had a few injuries spoiling their good start to the season in Carrusca, Ferreira and now Djite. Yet Neumann was able to come off the bench for them against the Glory and become a match winner. He scored a brace and Adelaide won 3-2.

This Week

Sergio van Dijk has now officially left United after half a season on the outer and making it clear he wanted to move to Indonesia. So we can expect little competition for Neumann’s striker spot until Djite recovers from his hamstring injury. Adelaide should be full of confidence and they have a solid record against Heart in Melbourne.

The good guys on the other hand will be furious from the capitulation of last game and trying everything to make amends. Quite often with our team we can lose the unlosable and win the unwinnable. As the cliché goes, our backs are to the wall so I’m expecting a good result from the boys in red and white.

The news from Heart training Wednesday courtesy of passionate Heart member @DearneRout is that both Williams and Garuccio are pushing for selection. Being the Indigenous Recognition Round, I expect Willo to be a big part of it. Even if he does spend time on the bench, I still see him being the difference and even scoring a sneaky goal.

Prediction: Heart by 1

With the #OneMelburnian campaign in full swing and the “Own the Experience” events, this Friday is very much a reboot for Melbourne Heart as a club. The crowd atmosphere will be buzzing so there should be no excuses from the players not to get a win. Even though they had a win last week the Reds are still vulnerable, with the uncertainty about Kosmina’s future and his rather one dimensional tactics.

We’re trying to create what will be the best atmosphere outside of the Melbourne derbies. Our new song will be sung as the players enter, there’s a member’s five-a-side game, and some lucky members will also become official Heart bloggers for the day.

The hard work isn’t over yet of course, so sign up and bring as many people with you as possible! It’s also going to be big pregame at The Imperial Hotel so come on down and introduce yourselves! Take advantage of the 25% discount for food and drinks… and most importantly enjoy the game. Go Heart!
