Melbourne Victory’s Northern Terrace set to Return

After a season-long protest against the draconian measures placed on them by the FFA and Melbourne Victory, the team’s major active supporter group is set to return.

One of the brightest things in football is the atmosphere and passion we experience when we set foot into the stands on game-day. As a Melbourne Victory fan and Northern Terrace regular, it’s easy for me to say that last season was one of the darkest in the clubs history, from a fan and atmosphere perspective. We experienced a series of restrictions that were ultimately in place to stifle the growth of our Terrace, which ultimately led to the protest that was in place for all of last season.

However, things have finally taken a turn for the better with North Terrace Melbourne’s official Facebook page today releasing a statement announcing that an agreement has been reached and the active supporter group will be back next season. Not only this, they also made it known that the standing capacity will double in what is a real win for fans and football in Australia.

On top of everything, the FFA has made it extremely difficult for non-members to partake in active support with the new measures they’ve put in place. NT Melbourne is continuing to work in conjunction with Melbourne Victory, to work within these setbacks to give everyone an opportunity to partake and really make the supporter group inclusive of all fans.

Active supporter groups are crowd pullers and are really something that sets our beautiful game apart from the other codes in this country. In what has been a grim reaction from other supporter groups to the new measures set by the FFA, this news is somewhat a shining light and a real boost for our game.
