Back To Our Spiritual Home

One round down and twenty something more to come, however my immediate attention turns to the round two clash against Western Sydney Wanderers.

This game will see Adelaide stay at home, but by home I mean Hindmarsh Stadium.  Adelaide Oval has been put to bed now and the REDS won’t play there again till either next season against Melbourne Victory or if we host the A-League grand final this season.

So Friday October 16th see’s Hindmarsh Stadium the spiritual home of Australian football showcase this massive clash and what most South Australian’s prefer as there coliseum.

Hindmarsh is an amazing place when full, and does actually have electricity about the place when the home team is on song.  Attacking the scoreboard end, you can almost feel the crowd trying to suck the ball in and as a fan feeling like you are actually on the field assisting the players. This is an amazing experience that no other stadium in our great game can create.

So welcome to Hindmarsh, Western Sydney wanderers and the RBB.  It will be good to have you boys adding to the atmosphere and excitement of Friday night football.

Wanderers I’m sorry to say but you were woeful against the roar, they had their pants pulled down and smacked, Poppa are you going to have another ordinary season? Your defense has more holes in it than a block of Swiss cheese and besides Mitch Nichols the one shinning light. I don’t see much else changing this Friday night if things don’t drastically improve.

As for the REDS look I will be honest we didn’t play well against out rivals Melbourne Victory.  The game was a scoreless draw and for me the highlight being the pre game rendition of the Oasis classic ‘Wonderwall’.  However when that is the one highlight you know the game wasn’t great.

I did enjoy our young keeper in John Hall stepping up in the absence of Eugene Galekovic who was on Socceroos duty. I am excited with the return of one of our best players in Tarek Elrich and Galekovic as they return from Jordan after their own disappointing result.

A positive is we did get away with a draw against the current A-League champions, so our result if we go tit for tat is far more impressive than Wanderers losing at home to Brisbane Roar.

Adelaide will need more out of their wide players in Dugandzic and Cirio this Friday and will need to play more balls into Eli Babalj our 6’4” striker who was surprisingly missing in action against the Victory. However the secret to Adelaide United’s success is Carusca, Carusca, Carusca, we need this maestro on the ball and firing, he is the best number 10 in the league so REDS please give him the ball and get him into the game pulling the strings.

So who wins? For me Adelaide will get the Job done, I don’t think all is right in Wanderland and I do think Adelaide will be quietly confident after getting a point against Victory the overwhelming favourites’ for the title this season.

I think Eli will have a much easier time up front against Wanderers ordinary defense and Carusca will definitely exploit the defensive gaps.
