Mooy to Manchester?

Socceroos star Aaron Mooy should announce his new destination shortly but Manchester City has emerged as a surprise candidate.  This would be more of an internal work transfer as Mooy would keep the same employer, just change different work location.  Don’t worry Aaron it’s extremely unlikely you would be competing in a star studded midfield for a place in the starting XI.

The land of waffles, frites and chocolate would be a far better fit for Mooy as clubs in Belgium have shown interest in the highly rated midfielder.  Spending a year on loan in Belgium would be a far better alternative than wasting a pivotal season in the Scottish Premier League with Rangers.  Australia has a strong history with players performing well in Belgium, one only has to look at our current number one Maty Ryan and see how pivotal a stint in Belgium can improve your football.

A season long loan should be enough time for Manchester City and City Football Group (CFG) to evaluate the future of Aaron Mooy and CFG have enough resources at their disposal to see Mooy reaches his potential without being shipped all over Europe to further his football career.  One would only want to see Mooy remain part of CFG if this improves his output as a footballer both at domestic and international level.

For Mooy an internal move would avoid any hassles for his getting out of his current Melbourne City contract and would see the star midfielder remain as part of the City Football Group.  This could potentially open the option to Aaron Mooy returning to Melbourne City after his second European stint concludes.

CFG didn’t break any transfer laws when they signed Anthony Caceres and Luke Brattan but the rules have now been adjusted.  City is stockpiling some very talented Australian players and keeping Mooy on the books could prove a masterstroke down the track if that remains the case.

We await any confirmation on the much talked about move to Europe but a move to Belgium with a quick stopover in Manchester could be the right move for Mooy.
