Can’t Wait…

The next A-League season can’t come quick enough. Like a five year old child counting down the days till the bloke in the big RED suits visits and leaves a few gifts, I too can’t wait for my favourite RED team to excite me with gifts of their own, goals, points and a feast of football to satisfy my hunger for the beautiful game.

I’ve had my appetite intensified since the amazing European championships recently that saw Portugal for the first time become European Champions of 2016. A tournament filled with quality football, drama and the underdog having more than just a few days in the sun.  Much like our very own A-League where the bottom team can easily triumph over top sides prove that a team with passion, desire and a love for the shirt will easily account for the so called superstar team on paper.

So can Adelaide United go back to back? Well for my sake one would hope so!

The Reds winning last season was a fairytale, bottom after nine rounds, minor premiers after 27 rounds can only be summed up as nuts!

What a turn around and then to go on and win the whole dam thing in front of 50,000 people at Adelaide Oval was crazy!! As a proud South Aussie and Adelaide United supporter I could only cry tears of joy and think…bugger me I love this game. That 90 minutes just smacked me for six and had every single emotion run through my veins and spit out feelings I never thought I had.  To see everyone in the stadium unite as one and sing UNITED will be something I will never forget!  They have said it was the best atmosphere ever heard or created at Adelaide Oval since the development and I for one share those views.  What an insane ride!  But hey it isn’t just the REDS games I love, it’s the whole league too.  The first Sydney derby at Stadium Australia has me excited, talk is 60,000 plus at this game….WOW what a statement that is, to say World Football is part of Australia like a snag with dead horse. Let’s just think about that for a minute, we have club football games now getting 60k in attendance or expected too, I’m sorry but we are here people and we are here to stay!

The thought that Tim Cahill will suit up for Melbourne City gets me pretty pumped too, what a bloody superstar that man is and I will get to watch him play at Hindmarsh this season when they play my REDs…YES PLEASE!!! Try getting a ticket to that game, no chance buy them now if you can peeps!

The A-League excites me and I love it from the boys on the Central Coast to the Kiwis in Wellington, hey I may even be the only person that enjoys the distance derby Perth Glory v Wellington Phoenix, some 8 million kilometers in distance…ok that is a slight exaggeration.

But hey guys it is our league, our Australian A-League to be enjoyed shared and loved because like you and me we get that football is the greatest game on earth, the biggest game on earth and Australia’s A-League is something we should all be proud of.

Bring on Season 2016/17.
