RED ALL OVER | Foul

Adelaide United’s season goes from bad to worse to embarrassing.  A loss on Sunday to a side that hasn’t won a game in fourteen A-League matches just came to our place pulled our pants down,  walked out with a waddle and took three points back to Gosford.  Leaving united supporters furious, angry and as RED faced as the shirts on the UNITED players backs.

What went wrong? How did that happen and why have we lost now four games in a row by two goals to one?  All questions being asked by REDS fans. Amor, Lads what’s your answer?

We are the current champions, yet after five rounds of football, we are rock bottom with not a win in sight.

Of course Sunday’s game did start well and after 45 minutes we were deservedly one nil up through a Guardiola penalty, however that old saying if you don’t take your chances they will come back to bite you and BOY was this the case as the Central Coast Mariners not only bit us in the second 45 minutes, they ripped us apart! What the HELL was in the cordial at Half Time AMOR and what was said to the boys?

The second half was nothing more than pathetic, dismal, slow and lethargic.

United lacked any energy and almost seemed to not care as the Mariners began to dominate the REDS at home. Central Coast Mariners jumped us from the start and within minutes of the 2nd half starting, O’Donovan lobbed Galekovic to level the scores.  Our defense was still sucking on oranges from halftime.  Then if that didn’t wake the boys up, I’m sure Connor Pains thunderbolt from 30 yards into the top right hand corner of United’s goals just 10 minutes later should have.  Two one now to the Mariners and United was officially crumbling before our eyes.  Paul Okon’s Mariners had completely blitzed us in 10 minutes to change the game and force United to chase shadows for the remaining 30mins.  Adelaide barely offered a whimper in reply and never looked like getting back into it.  The Mariners completely dominated the second forty-five minutes and deserved everything they got. While United’s best chances came from long balls forward in hope by Galekovic in goal, hardly impressive or pleasing for the 10,000 loyal fans in the stadium.

So well played Central Coast Mariners, a great win and I’m sure a win that will kick start your season, as for THE REDS some serious soul searching will be needed and a new energy drink poured at half time. Football is a game of two halves but that second half was probably the worst half of football I’ve ever seen as a REDS fan, I will be back next week but lads don’t serve that up again it was foul.
