RED ALL OVER | Keep The Faith

Let’s look at the positives!! Adelaide United avoided five straight loses with a tough and well earned one all draw over Brisbane Roar.  Still nothing to get overly excited about but a step in the right direction. United are still bottom after six rounds and still winless but the performance Friday night was light years ahead of that dismal display against the Mariners only five days earlier.

A game fairly well controlled by UNITED and it was good to see the REDS string the passes together with precision and style almost like the glory days of last season. United were certainly well up for this game and matched Roars intensity over the full 90 minutes. Very pleasing to see for REDS fans.

However is there a curse over Adelaide United this campaign! As on 60mins against pretty much the run of play United went behind by a very unlucky goal. When Brett Holman’s shot deflected off Larocca and completely wrong footed Galekovic in goal to give the visitors a undeserved lead. However to the credit of the REDS the lads did not drop their heads and were well rewarded on 68 minutes when Guardiola headed home from a beautiful Caruccio cross. It was the big Spaniards 3rd goal in as many games, no wonder the RED Army are singing “Cause we got Guradiola” to the theme music of Glad all over.

Adelaide United continued to push for a winner and if any team was to prevent a draw it was going to be the home side. Impressive performances by Elrich and Garuccio up and down the flanks, great engines from the boys and went round most players that tried to stop them. Also Kitto and O’Doherty out on the wings caused a lot of trouble and their young attacking mindset is a blessing to see out on a football field, these two have very bright futures at the REDS.

So although the game ended all square it was certainly a better well rounded performance by UNITED. A point in the right direction and a game that keeps REDS fans hopeful and looking forward to the next game, I’m not saying the boys are back but the boys are certainly not too far away…Keep the faith REDS fans and if you need help visit the church behind the southern end at Hindmarsh stadium, the spiritual home of South Australian football and the REDS.
