RED ALL OVER | Controversy

Adelaide United is second best as Perth Glory tame the REDS in the Wild West.

Another game and another loss for UNITED as we chalk up our 5th loss this season. The campaign is only seven rounds old but the Champions have still not won a game since the Grand final at Adelaide Oval…this hangover is turning into a fatal illness.

To be fair the game was controlled by the REDS and the effort could not be questioned. United were good value to go in front on 22 minutes after some lovely lead up play from Isaias who was easily United’s best man on the park over the 90mins.Thanks Josh Risdon for tapping it in for us, as United fans we will welcome the Own goal. However Concentration must be a issue with the REDS as just three minutes later that hard work to get in front was thrown away as Rostyn Griffiths fired home a equaliser and the boys were all square again after 25mins.Honours even at the break with the REDS probably the better of the two sides.

Insert now disaster, controversy and a 15 minute spell that absolutely destroyed UNITED in the second half. I guess Guardiola coming off on 58 minutes to a knee injury, the REDS leading goalscorer did not help us as we lost a focal point upfront but on 67 minutes when Rostyn Griffiths fouled Galekovic and knocked the ball out of our keepers hand for Andy Keogh to tap home, giving Glory the Lead we knew things were getting bad.  So much So that the quiet softly spoken and calm Amor lost his cool!!  He was right to question the fourth official on why Galeckovic was not awarded a free kick and the Glory goal allowed to stand. He may have got a bit too heated as AMOR was sent to the stands by the REF, left to ponder why 999 times out of 1000 that goal would have been disallowed for a foul on the keeper. What a disgrace of a decision! Of course throw in O’Doherty being sent off on 71mins with his second yellow card and United were now down a Striker a coach a goal and a player. We have all had a better 15minutes in a football game!!

To the REDS credit this controversial and terrible mistake by the REF did not stop their swagger, determination and spirit as UNITED continued to keep the ball for long periods and dominate the football match. A lot of Courage and passion was shown in the shirt as the boys with the numerical disadvantage by a player and a REF continued to strive forward and push for that equaliser, a lion heart effort in all honesty . Of course the REDS got a sucker punch  right at the end to lose the game 3-1 but that happens in a Football game when you are a man short and pushing hard low on fuel for a goal.

Another Loss for the REDs this time however the boys can feel very hard done by as most weeks you only have to battle the opposition not the REFs too. That decision completely ruined the FOOTBALL game and gutted not only the REDS but most A-League fans in general as we see another game heavily affected by poor officials. Not good enough!! AMOR I’m with you mate, send the REF off not the poor coach left frustrated and bewildered by yet another game officiated by the three blind mice!

You’re not normally this biased in your reporting.

I don’t think the goal should have been disallowed, no mention of the second AU player who should have been sent off
