RED ALL OVER | Asian Dream Alive!

After a week which has seen violence and racism from hooligans at the AFL it was pleasing to see the Beautiful game stand tall and show its class with Adelaide United defeating Jeju United 3-1 in South Korea.  The win now puts the REDS into 2nd place and a real chance to get out of the group stage of the Asian Champions League.

The night could’ve not started any better for Adelaide when on just 6 minutes Kim Jae-Sung launched an absolute missile from long range to give the lads an early lead.  What a strike from the South Korean! Don’t blink though REDS fans as just a minute later Cruz equalized for Jeju .The first half continued to see the home side dominate but Adelaide United stood tall and defended with a lot of determination and would of been the happier side going into the sheds at halftime with scores still level.

Another flying start for the REDS early into the second half saw Dylan McGowan head home from a corner to give UNITED a surprising 2-1 lead and leave Jeju shell shocked again.

Again the game continued in its usual vein with the home side putting more and more pressure on the Adelaide goal but like the first half United’s defense kept them at bay and Eugene Galekovic was outstanding in pulling off quality save after quality save.  So it was again a bit of a surprise when against the run of play young gun and future Socceroo Riley McGree slotted home the REDs 3rd goal of the night on 65 minutes.  Pretty much securing all three points for UNITED.

Jeju huffed and the puffed in the final 20mins but that man Eugene in goals was incredible. Euge was Huge the cry from Reds fans all over South Australia.  Jeju were never going to get a 2nd goal as long as Galekovic was in goals, he was just Unbeatable!

Adelaide United has 2 games left in this group stage and 2 wins will see them keep in 2nd spot and get to the knockout stage. Who would have thought it just 90minutes earlier! The REDS are alive and still kicking, time to jump back on board next stop Asian Champions league glory! See you at Hindmarsh Tuesday May 9th when the REDS take on Jiangsu Suning FC in their final game with a full house and a sea of RED you just might see the REDS progress and keep flying the Aussie flag in Asia.
