A win on Wednesday night will ensure a fourth consecutive World Cup appearance, and a much needed boost for the world game on a local front. The campaign has been disappointing to say the least, but all will be forgiven if Ange Postecoglu’s men book their place in Russia; well almost everything.
Much has been discussed about the reported $250,000 chartered flight from Honduras to Sydney but in 2017 such perceived luxuries should be seen as just another process in a winner takes all contest. If they flight even gives our boys an extra 2% edge on Wednesday night the cool quarter of a million dollars is money well spent in my book. An appearance at the World Cup will make the $250k appear like pocket change in the overall scheme of things. If heaven forbid we fail to qualify we can just add the flight to the magnitude of problems the game faces on a domestic front.
For those lucky enough to attend on Wednesday night please bear in mind ITS NOT THE THEATRE, make noise, get passionate and become the twelfth man our game desperately misses. Watching the final qualifying stage implores the passion of fans from all over the world. Sheer disappointment or utter jubilation is the final result for fans and this must be at the forefront of our minds. This opportunity is a once in a four year period for our Socceroos and we should treat this accordingly.
Get loud, proud and passionate for our Socceroos. It’s up to every fan at the game as a collective to represent fans from all over Australia on Wednesday night. Put aside any dissatisfaction you have the FFA, A-League, Steven Lowy, David Gallop, Ange, VAR, Fox Sports, etc etc; these can all be dealt with from Thursday onwards.Google+
