JVS – Just Very Special

No matter who you support in the Hyundai A-League who have to respect leaving Melbourne Heart manager John van’t Schip. The man not only bought style to the league with his impressive collections of suits, but style on the pitch as well.
I’ll put my hand up and admit I’d never heard on the Dutchman when he was first announces Heart’s debut head coach. One can only applaud Scott Munn and John Didulica for their brave decision to appoint such a strongly willed coach.
It won’t be the results JVS will be remembered by, but what he has built for the club. JVS has introduced a system to Melbourne Heart that mixes youth with experience and provides some of the best football seen in the league (with the exception of Brisbane Roar). Harsh judges will say JVS never won a championship, finished in the top half of the table, or never scored a playoff goal.
JVS leaves Heart on great terms, leaving to return to Europe for personal, and most likely harder more prestige challenges in Europe. Heart players and staff have only admiration and words of best wishes for the head coach, knowing that he leaves everyone he’s been involved in better educated in all things football.
I expect assistant coach Ante Milicic to be appointed without hesitation. I feel John Aloisi is too inexperienced for a head coaching role just yet. Aloisi is performing well at Youth level and will be looking towards a senior role in the coming years.
Thanks for the memories JVS, you have left your stamp on Melbourne Heart for many years to come.
