Shinji Ono - Western Sydney Wanderers - Sydney derby

The stage is set for what promises to be a feisty encounter. Parramatta Stadium will play host to the third Sydney Derby, and it doesn’t get any bigger than this!

Both teams come into this match with vastly different objectives, Western Sydney will be looking to continue their record-breaking winning streak with 11 on the trot, and hopefully clinch the Premier’s Plate in what has been described as a fairytale inaugural season.

And with marquee man Shinji Ono recently extending his stay, this surely will be a massive confidence booster for Western Sydney and are undoubtedly red-hot favourites coming into this match.

However they have been dealt a massive blow as defender Jerome Polenz and midfielder Aaron Mooy are set to miss this match due to quad and knee injuries respectively. And with Youssouf Hersi suspended, attacking options may well be limited.

On the other hand Sydney FC come into this crunch clash with one word in mind; WIN! And they’ll definitely need to in order to keep their finals hopes alive.

Performances throughout this season have been sub standard. With their defence in tatters and their attack lacking aggression, a lot of pressure will be placed on Farina’s shoulders.

However Farina does not have to deal with injury and suspension woes and will be expecting his troops to perform when needed of them. They will also take heart from the fact that they won by the slimmest of margins last October in the same arena.

Neill will be expected to start for this match. However their captain Terry McFlynn will miss this match after sustaining a hamstring injury.

Midfield domination and the ability to take whatever has been presented to either sides on a plate will define this match. Chances will be few and far between!

Let the better team win!
