Sky Blue View: Off Contract A-League Players

Earlier in the week, the list of off-contract A-League players was published. There is a fair amount of players coming to the end of their deals and it contains some very talented players.

I have been calling for a broom to be swept through the Sydney FC squad and think this is the perfect time to do a mock clear out of the squad. That being said, Sydney FC still has players on contract.

So for this exercise, those still contracted at Sydney will remain untouched. The rest of the squad I will fill out from the list of upcoming off-contract players. The only criteria I am using is the formation I want Sydney to play and that is a dynamic 4-5-1.

Contracted Sydney FC Players

Based on the list of off-contract players at Sydney, these are the players currently on contract:

Off-Contract Sydney FC Players

The players listed below are the players I would re-sign. I anticipate that Alessandro Del Piero will retire this season, so that is the reason I would not re-sign him.

In total, that now brings me to 9 players. That leaves me with 14 players to sign. I currently have 3 defenders, 4 midfielders, 1 forward and 1 goalkeeper.
