Five Question Friday – Melbourne Heart
The Yarraside and their ‘silent protest’
The proposed ‘Silent protest’ suggest by the ‘Yarraside’ reminds me of a petulant child at the supermarket asking mummy for a chocolate. The end result will be decided by those at board level who will be taking no notice of your proposed protest and like the child you will not only miss the spoils but cause embarrassment to yourselves.
Should we continue to stick with Aloisi?
No, It’s not a flat out no, but even the biggest JA supporters must know he is on borrowed time. Four losses in a row isn’t a crisis (especially when 6/10 teams make the finals) but the performance of the players under Aloisi appears to be. Watching our performances over the last few weeks it appears Aloisi has lost the players, and once that happens it’s incredibly tough to win them back. Currently we have 11 individuals player for Heart, not a team of 11. If we don’t win this weekend we could hear “It’s time to go John” after all he has received the full support of the board.
Can we afford to sack Aloisi?
This could be a case of ‘Can we afford not to sack him?’ Attendances will dwindle if the team keeps impersonating professional footballers, even the most loyal of fans can only take so much. Sure we have had some enjoyable moments thus far this season, but this is far outweighed by poor embarrassing moments. Financially, I have no idea. From the outside looking in it appears we have ramped up our spending this season trying to generate memberships and better attendances and if our last few seasons financially are anything to go by the well could be drying up. The decision (or lack of one) to sack Aloisi could be as much results based as it is a financial decision. Another interesting point is John Van’t Schip, for a much publicised appointment we have heard and seen very little of his thus far.
If #AloisiOut does happen who should be next?
We need to appoint an experienced coach who has both A-League experience and a strong character. So far the Melbourne Heart 2.0 experiment doesn’t appear to be working and we need to rectify this problem before the problem swallows the club whole. If it was up to me I would be approaching John Kosmina, the man has great knowledge and an outstanding football brain. The potential for a Muscat v Kosmina showdown would also add to the next Melbourne derby instalment.
Should Kewell start this week?
There are plenty of people who would say yes, he is our captain he needs to lead from the front. I think match fitness is a big concern and his inability to run out 90 minutes also is a factor. We have started matches better than we have finished them this season, I would be inclined to start Harry on the bench (or bunnings seat) and make an early second half substitution. This would leave the door open to start Kalmar, and situation depending he could make way for Harry.
