Harbour Views – Week 23

Hmm, so I’m writing this on a Thursday. That means one of two things, I’m being lazy or the match the previous weekend gave me a lot to think about. In this case I think it’s the later.

If that’s our bad day, things are positive.

Well, if my beloved sky blues were going to have a bad game before the end of the season, I probably would’ve picked this one. Weirdly I actually ended up walking out of last Friday’s game in an optimistic mood. See in my opinion, we we’re on top for large periods of the game and the whole fixture could’ve gone a whole lot differently if Janko had converted an early chance. On the ball, this is the best I’ve seen Sydney Fc play, with Dimitrijevic and Tavares that hardly comes as a surprise. Finally the goal, didn’t raise any major concerns, it was a case of players being pushed up to try and sneak a goal which backfired. That shows intent, intent we are going to need if we are going to take anything from the league this season.

Looking across the Tasman

So, here comes the first of two away trips across the Tasman. This one is probably going to be our best chance to get some points and peg the Nix back. With the opposition being depleted with key players such as Nathan Burns and McGlinchey missing as well as Boxall, Fenton and Doyle. Sydney on the other hand are only missing Janko which gives Smeltz the chance to find some form. In terms of play, it’s about creating chances for the sky blues and away from home against the inform Phoenix, that won’t be easy.
