South Melbourne’s A-League Push
South Melbourne officials are involved in talks with Central Coast owner Mike Charlesworth about relocating the under pressure A-League club to Lakeside Stadium. A similar takeover only 12 months ago of Melbourne Heart failed during the early negotiation stage but ‘From The Stands’ believe current talks are ticking all the boxes and making all the right noises.
It’s also believed South Melbourne contacted Nathan Tinkler about purchasing the Newcastle Jets but the FFA stepped in stating it would prefer the Newcastle club to stay in the area but were open to removing the Central Coast team. South Melbourne were initially approached by Executive Vice Chairman Peter Storrie and talks have progressed from there.
It’s believed an announcement will be made in the coming weeks, just before the Mariners final home game against Western Sydney on Saturday the 11th of April.
Neither club could be contacted for further comment but this issue could develop over the next few days.
