Reds Tame Wild West

Don’t worry about the Sixers in the big bash or the articificial hype of 20/20 this summer, the only real Sixers you want to see is Adelaide United in the Top 6 and the mighty REDS undefeated in 6.

The boys are back in town and this summer is really starting to heat up now. What a way for the REDS to get there first away win for the season by taming the Perth Glory in the wild wild west. Things of course didn’t start well and after only 7 minutes we were behind by a Tarek Elrich own goal but like the improved and impressive team we have become lately, the lads dug deep and turned things around, our equaliser some 15 minutes later was just reward as the REDS slowly began to boss the game.

What a TEAM goal that equaliser was though, as a REDS fan I could watch that over and over again, the quick one touch passing before Cirio finally finished inside the 6 yard box was poetry in motion and arguably one of the best team goals so far this A-League season, A goal with coach AMOR’S influence all over it I’m sure.

Perth Glory went down to 10 men just before half time when last man in defence Alex Grant pulled down Craig Goodwin who was running in on goal , a deserved RED card as Grant clearly stopped a genuine goal scoring opportunity for Adelaide.

So what was in store in the 2nd Half? Well up stepped the best player going around in the A-League at the moment and easily the most skillful, Marcelo Carrusca he lead a merry dance through the Perth Glory defence and fired home our 2nd goal for the night in the 47th minute.  Carrusca was in vintage form against Glory, he made them look like school boys as he mesmerized and teased them with his magic feet and movement, WOW what a player to watch when in this sort of form. No one can stop our Maestro as he conducts attack after attack, just a pleasure to watch and see the master at work.

Perth huffed and puffed a bit near the end, but had no reward, again our defence stood strong and didn’t concede from a small window of Glory pressure and to be fair Adelaide United gave Perth a taste of their own medicine when we counter attacked and hit Glory on the break for Craig Goodwin to get a well taken third goal for the REDs at the death and earn us another valuable 3 points . Just reward for Goodwin who had another fine night in a REDS shirt.

Looking forward now to the Game at Hindmarsh next Saturday against bottom placed Mariners , let’s hope the lads can turn it on again at home for the fans and we can see some more midfield dominance with exquisite one touch passing leading to balls rippling into the back of the net. Also Mr Carrusca if you could pack your magic feet into the kit bag again for this weeks game I will be a very happy REDS fan.

See you next week at the spiritual home of Australian football as we watch our REDS playing like the team we love. Looks like Amor has put the band back together and they are playing the songs we all like to sing along too.
