Turn Adelaide Green & Gold
Thursday the 24th of March, mark it in your diaries folks because that’s the day the Mighty Socceroos grace the beautiful Adelaide Oval and put Tajikistan to the sword in a World cup qualifier. The prize, three points and Australia’s chance to take another step forward towards competing in the biggest sporting show on earth, the FIFA world cup and Russia 2018.
So if you’re a South Australian why would you want to miss this? It’s your chance to see the likes of Tim Cahill rise high above would be defenders heading one home then seeing him celebrate by boxing the corner flag. Your chance too see Matthew Leckie ex Adelaide United player rip it up down the wing and destroy defenders with his pace. Your chance to see Robbie Kruse cause the exact same havoc on the Tajikistan team out on the other wing and of course we can watch the majestic silky skills of Tommy Rojic carve it up like he does for Celtic in Scotland.
Massimo Luongo will be out there too, he is one of the brightest talents in the Socceroos squad and who can forget the cracking goal he scored in the Asian Cup final! Let’s hope he lights up the Adelaide oval with a strike like that on Thursday night.
So just when you thought the Socceroos couldn’t throw any more punches at the Adelaide Oval, up pops Aaron Mooy one of the best A-League midfielder’s going around. A fine product of our local league and don’t be surprised if he sets up a goal or two in this game as no one has more assists in the A-League than the Melbourne City midfielder.
The Socceroos will also have a lot of bite out there too, Captain Socceroo Mile Jedinak is a rock in the heart of Australia’s midfield and will lead from the front like he does for Crystal Palace in the Premier League. He will win every ball and do the grunt work required.
The defense will be full of the young talent with the likes of Preston North Ends Bailey Wright and Liverpool’s very own Brad Smith at fullback and of course the Great Matt Ryan in between the sticks. He has gone from strength to strength since joining Valencia in the Laliga.
So South Australia this is your chance to see the Socceroos and turn Adelaide from a dull grey to a sea of Green and Gold. To cheer on your national football side, the team that unites us all and puts us on the world stage in the greatest dance there is in world football.
