The Run Home | Western Sydney
Western Sydney enters the final three rounds on top of the A-League table and has the luxury of a very good run home. Whilst the Premiers plate isn’t new to Tony Popovic but he will be looking to go one step further in the Grand Final, providing his men qualify.
Current Position: 1st (42 points)
Games Remaining: Victory (Away), Central Coast (Home), Wellington (Away)
Maximum Points: 51 points
The Good:
The last two weeks should see the Wanderers take maximum points as both opponents have nothing to play for without promotion/relegation in the league. With points at a premium in the last few rounds the Wanderers have a very favourable run home.
The Bad:
Federico Piovaccari has been a horrible signing for Western Sydney and could hinder the club in the run home when searching for goals. Fellow challenger City has scored 20 more goals than Wanderers and goal difference could be a deciding factor at the end of round 27.
The Ugly:
Western Sydney still has a three point deduction hanging over their heads and travels to Melbourne this Friday night, a game in the past that has come under heavy scrutiny. Whilst we all hope a points deduction doesn’t happen, it could prove a dramatic penalty if any individuals put themselves in front on the best interests of the club.
