Hume Leave Their Mark-elis -
A late peach of a goal from former Victory player Theo Markelis was the difference between Hume City FC and a Melbourne City Select XI. In what is a great byproduct of the FFA Cup the two clubs met after the scheduled Hume vs. Victory game was called off after the two clubs were to meet in the final 16 of the premier domestic cup competition. The game itself was played at a reasonable pace, with the chance to impress coaches before important games next week. There was no quarter given as players weren’t afraid to dive in for the occasional bone crunching tackle, taking advantage of a referee who seemed to have forgotten his cards at home. Which in all honesty wasn’t a bad thing given the game was played in excellent spirits. Melbourne City controlled the midfield for the bulk of the game but were as threatening as the Australian Olympic team when entering the box. Hume were far too organised for the young City team who lacked strength and confidence when entering the box.
