Pretty Sweet
Adelaide United are on the march and on the march at the right time of the year. After destroying the Jets last week, the mighty REDS have again destroyed another opponent at Hindmarsh Stadium. Wellington Phoenix were left shell shocked, dazed and confused like sheep in the headlights as UNITED put three past the KIWIS and ran away comfortable 3-1 winners. It is another valuable three points to the REDS and a result that puts the lads into 4th place on the A-League ladder.
| Team | Played | Points | GD |
| 3. Melbourne City | 24 | 37 | 5 |
| 4. Adelaide | 25 | 36 | 0 |
| 5. Melbourne Victory | 24 | 35 | 4 |
So how did Kurtz men defeat the Phoenix? Well quite easily really, they dominated the game from the first minute to the last. The boys did not let up and had the foot on the gas for the entire night as ISAIAS pulled the strings in the heart of the midfield and Absalonsen danced around players with ease. It was of course the GREAT DANE ABSALONSEN that opened the scoring on 42minutes with a brilliant header after neat work up play from ISAIAS and Marrone down the flanks.
The second half continued in the same manner as the most inform side in the A-League Adelaide United continued to dominate and dictate the play, so on 61 minutes when BEN GARUCCIO bombed forward beat his man and smashed the ball into the back of the onion basket to give the REDS a 2 nil lead it really came as no suprise. However if you thought that was all the REDS had, think again just 2 minutes later UNITED scored another goal at the RED ARMY end through some neat, tight ,skillful footwork in the box by KONSTANDOPOULOS. The game was put to bed now as the REDS went three zip up and the 12,000 strong REDS fans could drink in and celebrate the night.
The KIWIS did pull a late goal back from the penalty spot but to be fair who cares as it really didn’t have any major effect on the flow of the game or outcome on a solid well-polished REDS victory.
The boys are in form and the boys are in form at the business end of the season. The finals are now not far away and the most dangerous teams in finals are always the team on a roll. United are certainly the side that are full of momentum have all the big guns back and scoring goals for fun, 8 in their last 2 games.
On another positive note for Adelaide United allowing all the fans to have a kick on the spiritual home of South Australian football after the game was a fantastic gesture by the club, as a massive REDS fan and player of this great game. I know the six games I played in my career on the turf of Hindmarsh means the world to me and will never be forgotten. It is a special place so for fans to kick a football and rub shoulders with their REDS heroes after 90 mins is something the CLUB needs to congratulated on.
The REDS are the real deal Adelaide United fans and the good thing on good Friday they are real deal at the right time of the year. Happy Easter REDS fans your team is looking pretty sweet!
