Season 2018/19 – Round 1

The longest offseason is finally over and the fourteenth instalment of the A-League is finally here.

Sydney FC will no longer be the dominant force we have grown accustomed to, although they remain favourites for the league and will be wanting to appease last seasons finals shock exit.  Season 2018/19 will be one of the most open competitions we have ever seen with nine teams with a genuine argument for finals and beyond, the other; Wellington Phoenix has been written off by almost everyone in what could be the last season from the club across the ditch.

All the focus turns to what now is an FFA Cup preview with Adelaide taking on Sydney to open the season, whilst most of the league (and marketing budget) is pinpointed to a poorly scheduled Melbourne Derby on Saturday Night to open the season at the newly named Marvel Stadium.  Don’t be fooled by the name change, it’s still the soulless concrete structured formerly known as Etihad most likely with a few Superheroes dotted around the walls for good measure.

Anyway, enough from me… Let’s finally celebrate our game finally being back and get out and see a game this weekend or catch the coverage on Fox Sports or on Chanel Ten’s affiliate channel between reruns of Neighbours, or whatever half-baked reality show the kids are watching these days.

See you in the stands
