Brisbane Roar accept Matt McKay’s two match suspension

Brisbane Roar Football Club will not appeal the independent Match Review Panel (MRP)’s two-match suspension to Matt McKay.

McKay was sent off in the 72nd minute of Brisbane Roar’s 2-1 opening round loss to Adelaide United on Sunday and was handed the mandatory one match suspension plus one additional match.

The club has reviewed the situation internally and has accepted the MRP’s decision.

“Matt has shown incredible remorse about his actions on the weekend and he knows he has let the club, his teammates and our members and supporters down,” Managing Director Sean Dobson said.

“We have accepted the Match Review Panel’s decision and consider the matter finalised.”

McKay will miss this Sunday’s away trip to Perth Glory and next Friday’s home fixture against Sydney FC.

The club will be making no further comment on the matter.
