SOCCER SHAME – Sexist cheer squads, police car brutality and Nancegate.

Soccer thugs launch sexist attack on female journalist

It was a visual that stole the breath from the over-5000 supporters in Parramatta Stadium on Saturday night. Mid-way into the first half, the Sydney Wanderers cheer squad unfurled a series of banners directed at Telegraph journalist, Rebecca Wilson – a violent attack from the persisting blight of invading soccer thugs.

It’s not a pretty sight. We’re a progressive country who has come so far in terms of acceptance of others. It has brought a smile to many Australians over recent decades to see migrants adopt Australian activities such as the AFL, meat pies and southern cross tattoos. Affirmative action has seen inferior women workers promoted to positions they could have never imagined but half a century ago. However, as is so often the case, the soccer community lags behind.

The image above captures one of the most sexist moments in Australian sporting history. Their choice to attack defenceless female journalist, Rebecca Wilson, and not a stronger, more mentally durable male speaks for itself.

At the same time, the RBB make light of alcoholics, RBTs and by extension, the entire legal system of our fine land. It is unfair to criticise Rebecca Wilson for being caught by RANDOM Breath Tests – it is not like one can plan for them! The stupidity of soccer thugs continues to exceed itself.

The Wanderers fan group are merely lucky that Ms. Wilson was not watching the match, as she was busy forging her next piece of anti-soccer art.

Melbourne Victory fans cap police car

Exclusive images have been leaked to FTSAL, revealing the dark underside of hardcore soccer fandom in Melbourne. The image (seen below), clearly depicts a police car being violently assaulted by a thug, wielding Melbourne Victory merchandise.

Bdvy9DfCAAEXN25Police are appealing to the lady (or man in disguise) wearing heels, seen walking in the background, to come forth and help identify the culprit. The FFA has a lot to answer for, in charge of a sport which supports and glorifies the art of “hat-tricks”. This hat trick is clearly offside.

Outrage as Newcastle Jets award controversial title

While real Australian sports award courageous and outstanding performances with awards such as “Man of the Match”, the A-League’s Newcastle Jets have caused a large stir with their alternative: the Nance of the Week.

Pictured above, captain and Nance of the Week, Ruben Zadkovic looks less than impressed with the club’s gesture.  Disparaging slang for an “effeminate male”, an outraged Zadkovic declared in post-game interviews, “How can they call me effeminate? Have they seen my head?”

Often used to deride homosexuals, a spokesperson for Newcastle’s LGBT community told the website exclusively, “We are outraged by this. Not only is the use of ‘nance’ thoroughly insulting, but the idea that Ruben Zadkovic is the best of us… have you seen his head?”

Event Cinemas are also in hot water over their sponsorship of the award, although their affiliation with soccer in Australia has been generally applauded as clever marketing. With the boring nature of soccer extremely evident, the linking of an entertainment industry (cinemas) to the round-ball game has proven a shrewd move.

However, Nance-Gate has been a PR disaster for the franchise – leading many industry experts to query why Event Cinemas didn’t instead use Zadkovic to cross promote the new Hobbit movie.
