Glorious Keogh Hat-trick

The Glory came from behind twice in a cracker of a match in Perth which saw the home side win 3-2 against the Roar in front of 8,700.
A sodden NIB Stadium was prepared for both teams to come out, with Roar needing to replace McKay after his red card from the last game against Adelaide and Perth coming off an impressive win vs. Wellington. The game took a while to settle and both teams struggled to create any clear chances until a burst from Henrique down the wing, followed up by a beauty of a cross to put Kurtishi through for the opener. The second half had much more intensity to it as both teams came out of the blocks firing, but Perth were first to capitalise when Keogh earned and sunk a penalty given away by Jade North. It was Henrique that hit the back of the net just 6 minutes later with a breathtaking strike from outside the box. It took another Keogh piece of brilliance, after a wonderful ball through from Josh Risdon to undo the Roar defence.

Brisbane were perhaps unlucky with a deflection from Donachie, who put the ball in the back of his own net two weeks on the spin, although there is debate to who the goal was credited to in the end. At 74 minutes in, the game stood at 2-2 and the ball was going very much end to end. It took the man of the match, Andy Keogh, to head home from a corner give his team the lead in injury time, a goal that would put Perth to the top of the A-League ladder at the conclusion of round 2.

Perth follow up this fixture with a trip across the nullarbor to face Adelaide United, while Brisbane face their own cross-border foes in Sydney FC in a home game in Suncorp Stadium. Very contrasting starts to the season for these teams, but they did combine to create an entertaining game to bring round 2 of the A-League for season 2014/15 to a close.
