7th Heaven
The mighty RED machine keeps rolling on after another solid win at the spiritual home of Australian football. Unbeaten now in 7 games the reds fans are truly in 7th heaven. Hindmarsh is starting to turn into the REDS fortress again and a place where opposition teams dread to come. Another impressive home crowd too for Adelaide United with over 11,000 people at the game against the Coasters making for a intimidating atmosphere and beautiful sea of RED in the stands. Who doesn’t love seeing a full Hindmarsh while the lads do the business on the park and the fans do the bouncing and singing inside the ground. What a BUZZ!!
So why are the fans so happy again….well for one a bloke called Craig Goodwin who I have down as best on ground in this game, his tireless running and aggressive charging at defenders on the flanks is causing all sorts of worries for opposition players . His goal after 60 minutes was sheer class, what a delightful first touch to destroy the defender inside the box and then unleash. BANG! As the net bulges with a football in the back of it. 1 zip and just reward to Craig Goodwin who is having a fantastic season.
Fabio Ferreira ex RED equalised some 10mins later with a well taken goal and as a REDs fan although not happy to see him score against us, quietly impressed by his display and I wish him the best for the rest of the season in Gosford.
Pablo the little maestro got the crowd jumping again in the 81st minute with a gorgeous header that he somehow glanced backwards into the back of the net. Ironic the smallest bloke on the park wins the header and puts the REDs back in the lead, but that is why he is our little maestro the man can do no wrong on a football field. A tricky customer for any opponent trying to keep this man quiet.
Nice also to see Mate Dugandzic come off the bench and get his first ever goal in a REDS shirt and Adelaide United’s 3rd in this game after 92mins. Of course that clinched another valuable 3 points as we consolidate a place in the 6 and stake our claim to be part of finals football this campaign.
Special mention also to our young debutant keeper Daniel Margush who when needed made the outstanding saves and kept the Mariners out, great to see the Adelaide United youth get their chance and thrive when asked to play with the big boys. Well done Daniel!
So another convincing win to the REDS with over 60 per cent possession, another 3 points and another great crowd in too see it. The fans are in 7th heaven and starting to believe again.
