RED ALL OVER: Ten
Well I hope you found your seats in time for kick off in this one as after just 2 minutes Adelaide United opened the scoring through some handy Stefan Mauk work down the flank which led to a great cross and Cirio was there to get on the end of it. 1-0 to the Reds and Sydney FC were still probably listening to the Graham Arnold Team talk.
The 12,000 Reds fans inside Hindmarsh couldn’t of wished for a better start and the atmosphere really did crank up after that early whack by the home side.
Sydney FC did get into the game and slowly dominated the arm wrestle at times in the congested midfield and after 37 minutes were good value in their equalizer a very nice deflected header by Matt Simon and scores now even on the park.
Was pleasing though to see the REDS get the lead back just before half time as young gun Bruce Kamau danced and tricked his way through the Sydney FC defense and put the ball on a plate for Cirio to smash home his 2nd on the night. Cirio really has been Mr. consistent this season and good value for his Brace is the first half.
However if you thought the game started with a bang, the half really did end with fireworks too. Literally the last kick of the first half saw the visitors draw level. Holosko chipped the ball home after some pretty desperate defending from Elsey who was unlucky not to stop it.
2 all at the break and really time for a cold drink and to take the first 45 pulsating minutes in. The 2nd half did turn into a bit of a midfield kick about with no team really having the cutting edge to break the deadlock. Sydney shaded the possession overall and probably feel they deserved the 3 points more but Adelaide United’s defense stood pretty tall in the 2nd half and made it hard for the visitors in sky blue. 2 all after 90 minutes a fair result.
Stefan Mauk was worthy of a mention and young Bruce Kamau too, a couple of young lads with bright exciting futures for the REDS and will only get better the more time they spend on the perfect carpet green grass of Hindmarsh in front of a RED ARMY of supporters.
So the undefeated run now goes into double figures, 10 games without Adelaide United’s colours lowered and 24 points from 30 on offer is just the drink we wanted to pour ourselves after round eight this season. Sip in the turnaround REDS fans and drink in the cocktail of a team with their mojo back.
I will have my RED MARTINI shaken not stirred.
